The largest country on the planet is gearing up for the FIFA World Cup

On 2 December 2010, the FIFA Executive Committee made an historic decision, naming Russia host of the 2018 FIFA World CupTM. Russia’s inspirational bid won the absolute majority it needed to secure world sport’s greatest prize.

A star-studded Russian delegation attended the ceremony in snow-clad Zurich; illustrious names like: Igor Shuvalov, First Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation; Vitaly Mutko, Russia’s Sports Minister; Alexey Sorokin, Russia 2018 Bid CEO; Andrey Arshavin, captain of the Russian national team; Anna Netrebko, world-famous opera singer; Valery Gergiev, celebrated conductor and artistic director of the Mariinsky theatre; and Elena Isinbayeva, two-time Olympic champion and track-and-field legend. They came together from different fields and different backgrounds, united by a single vision: to bring the FIFA World Cup to Russia.a

“I remember being incredibly nervous when the FIFA President, Joseph Blatter, was taking that piece of paper out of the envelope. When you sing on the world’s greatest stages, you know that the outcome is in your hands. But on that day in Zurich, we could only stand and watch,” says Netrebko. “We just held hands and waited. I will remember the moment I saw the word ‘Russia’ in President Blatter’s hands for the rest of my life. I know we will give the world an unforgettable tournament because Russia is an unforgettable country, unique in the diversity of its people, its cultures and its opportunities.”

Andrey Arshavin shares his thoughts on that landmark moment in Russian sports history: “When I found out that Russia was going to host the 2018 World Cup, my first reaction was disbelief. But the very next moment, I just felt so proud: proud for my country, for myself and for Russian football. Hosting the World Cup will be a huge boost for the game here. I have my own World Cup dream: to watch the games in my home city of Saint Petersburg, and to see the final in Moscow.”

In choosing Russia to host the 2018 FIFA World CupTM, FIFA voted for the future of football. Holding the tournament in the world’s largest country will reinvigorate the game across Russia, and push back the boundaries of the global football community.

Valery Gergiev believes the FIFA World CupTM can inspire generations of sporting and social development in Russia:

“I have been to some of the world’s top stadiums in cities like London, Madrid and Barcelona. Watching football in an environment like that is as good as it gets, so I’m thrilled that soon we will have world-class stadiums of our own here in Russia.

“The FIFA World Cup brings new possibilities to our country and we will feel the benefits for decades to come. For me, the main thing is that Russian kids will have the chance to see their idols in action with their own eyes, and their dreams of competing against them for Russia will feel that little bit closer.”

The nation is already buzzing with excitement. A survey conducted by Sport+Markt on behalf of FIFA found that half of all Russians call themselves football fans. Over 60% are proud that Russia won the right to host the FIFA World CupTM, and are confident that it will be a huge success. As 2018 ticks closer, that passion will only intensify; and with such a sense of anticipation seven years out, visitors can expect a vibrant atmosphere come kick-off.

The enthusiasm for the FIFA World CupTM in Russia has filtered down from the stands and onto the pitch – even international football icons are excited by the prospect. Among them are Roberto Carlos and Samuel Eto’o, both world-class stars now pursuing a career in the Russian Premier League with Anzhi Makhachkala.

“I am very happy for the Russian people that their country got the World Cup – it is an amazing, exciting event. During the tournament the whole country forgets its problems and lives only for football and positive emotions,” says Roberto Carlos. “I have been in Russia long enough to experience the real hospitality of its people. I am sure the World Cup in Russia will be full of surprises and we will definitely experience a stunning atmosphere throughout the tournament.”

Eto’o adds, “Hosting the World Cup is a great honour for a country. The fact that Russia will host the World Cup is the proof that the country is moving in the right direction. It’s a great opportunity to show the world the best of Russia: it is such a beautiful, historic place. So far, my strongest impression of Russia is the warmth of its people. I am sure every fan who comes to the World Cup in 2018 will feel the same.”

As soon as the Bid Committee returned home triumphant from Zurich, the real hard work began in earnest. Russia has been proactively preparing for the tournament throughout the last year. The same transparency, commitment to excellence and spirit of Fair Play that underpinned the bid campaign is fuelling the LOC, and the team has already made outstanding progress.

FIFA Secretary General, Jérôme Valcke, praised the LOC’s early running:

“From the day they were awarded the rights to host the 2018 FIFA World Cup, Russia has been working closely with us on the preparations for the first FIFA World Cup in Eastern Europe – despite the fact that the tournament is not until 2018. We have to congratulate the LOC, led by Chairman Vitaly Mutko and CEO Alexey Sorokin, for their commitment and for the great partnership we are forging. We are very pleased with the progress made this year. We firmly believe that if Russiacontinues at this pace, the world will salute Russians for organising a fantastic FIFA World Cup.”

A year has passed since that momentous day in Zurich and the country is already hard at work. TheRussia 2018 Local Organising Committee (LOC) has been established, comprising Supervisory and Management Boards, as well as regional organising committees for all 13 regions involved in hosting the tournament. Five of the 13 stadiums included in Russia’s bid are already under construction, and the remainder are already into the design phase.

FIFA and the LOC made a joint decision to bring forward the deadline for selecting the final 2018 FIFA World Cup Host Cities to late 2012. An interim logo will be launched before the end of the year, giving the 2018 FIFA World Cup a visual brand asset, which will be in place until the event identity is launched in 2014. The first sponsorship deals have already been secured with FIFA Partners, Coca-Cola and Hyundai-Kia, and 2018 FIFA World Cup Sponsor, Anheuser-Busch InBev.

“We value the support FIFA has given to the Russia 2018 Local Organising Committee from the very beginning. We are working night and day to repay their faith and host the best World Cup in the history of the beautiful game,” said Alexey Sorokin, CEO of the Russia 2018 LOC.

FIFA has also noted the speed with which Russia is processing legislation to support the tournament, aimed at enshrining the guarantees given by the Government of the Russian Federation.

“Last year we presented a bid to the FIFA Executive Committee with the slogan: Ready To Inspire! And we won with a concept for the tournament that will unite the largest country in the world with a single passion. As we stand today, the Local Organising Committee and the Government of the Russian Federation are confident that Russia is ready to surprise and enchant the world,” said Vitaly Mutko, Russia’s Sports Minister and Chairman of the Russia 2018 LOC.

Fifa Confederations Cup comes to Africa!!

Africa, for a long while now, has bee deemed to be "dark continent". Yet in a few months time, one of the greatest soccer tournaments will be done in one of the countries of th e so called "dark continent". I am talking about the Fifa Confederations Cup that will be held in South Africa as a prelude to the main event which will also be held in South Africa: the 2010 Fifa World Cup. The people of Africa are great, especially with their unity in diversity. Their culture is splendid. Most people perceive the Africans as being backward due to their culture (especially their skin clothing) but in contrast, they the most intellectual people in this world. So lets leave that and focus on the confederations cup.

Finally, the great names in world class football will be in this great continent. The likes of Kaka, Torres, Fabregas, Canavaro, Xavi, Raul, Gatuzzo, Ike Casillas to mention but a few, will be coming to Africa. Let us not forget the African bred footballers: the likes of Bennie McCarthy, Aaron Mokoena, Steven Piennar, Egyptian goalkeeper El-Hadary, Shawky and Amr Zaki. Teams that will make up the Confederations Cup this year are South Africa (host nation), Egypt (winners of 2008 African cup of nations), Italy (current world cup winners), Brazil (Copa America winners), Iraq (AFC Asian cup winners), Spain (current Euro cup winners), New Zealand (OFC Nations cup winners) and USA (CONCACAF Gold cup winners).

So there is much to be expected. The stadiums are in top gear preparation. Roads are being re-carpeted, hotels are being constructed and upgraded plus many other things in preparing the world for the most watched and televised international event. The question then is are you ready for this? Start saving up early! With the economic melt down going on you had better begin doing something early enough if you have to enjoy this phenomenal experience. You do not want to miss this. Over the next few months as........read the complete article and others here

Fifa And Dating

Keep in mind this has long been a hobby of mine to study human habits and analyze the variances in the way many of us consume then respond to multimedia, info, and present events. By comparing precisely how anyone behaves, you are, in theory, confident to foretell the individual's possible future decisions. Merchants carry out this often. Recognize your users plus their habits, and then customize your internet business to help satisfy their potential demands. Advertising and marketing 101.

Whilst exploring via echelons regarding the Babble element on Datecover.com, I found an intriguing chat under the category of World Cup Soccer . I was perplexed to view how well-liked this category had become for the reason that it is little secret that a great deal of people in America publicly don't like soccer and decline to consider its existence. These people in America are content residing in a world completely outclassed by football, baseball, and hockey, and how can you blame them? American athletics are a $ seventy billion dollar industry, and that's ample amounts to nourish perhaps even the most significant sports hunger.

Well before making this particular article I quizzed a guy pal of mine his view on european football and additionally the World Cup. The guy said, soccer is for sissies, though Ill see the World Cup. Professionally, I was interested. Personally, I was confused. Why were people "babbling related to the World Cup by using an internet dating site? Precisely what was their motivation? Precisely what were these folks saying? and why does my friend want to keep an eye on a couple of sissies playing european football?!? Fascinated, I examined the World Cup Babble thread and was able to achieve some quick and dirty knowledge how Americans are taking in the FIFA World Cup . In this article are my findings.

Women: Females in this country possess a distinct point of view anytime it involves european football. These ladies hold a true interest during the action and appear to get precisely what is going on much better than countless American men. While ladies usually aren't able to express to you exactly how many shots on goal the US Team took against England (twelve shots, 4 on target), or the reason the 2-2- draw versus Slovenia came to be an incredible result (USA advances with a win vs. Algeria). Although they would be able to reveal to you Landon Donovan is in fact a family man and committed, Clint Dempsey likes to rap and also is from Texas, and that David Beckham is a metro sexual and scorching hot. A lot of gals are not soccer addicts, these ladies happen to be followers of european football players.

Guys: Badly informed at best and patriotic at heart a notable pairing. My good friend who believes soccer is for sissies is a Texas guy. These fellas do not understand european football. These fellas tend not to adore the outdoor activity, and these guys do not understand the magnitude or impact the World Cup has on the mankind. The Texas guy nevertheless is familiar with exactly what it means to have die-hard passion, they happen to be patriotic to the bone, and they fully grasp sport, skill as well as strategy. The Texas male happens to be a sports fanatic, not a soccer fan.

The American Foreigner: He is knowledgeable, zealous, but sensible. The American foreigner has learned the World Cup is the leading sporting event . These people are the people who get to take time off from their job, but bargain to use that day in two hour increments so they can easily check out the games on Television. Although they understand the activity, these people moreover notice others around them do not. The American foreigner willingly educates their buddies about the breathtaking game and efforts to increase the love of Soccer throughout their social group. They do not lecture, they are generally sensible and coach through guided dialogue, wit and debate. The American foreigner has become brainwashed to an advocate for european football, although not a promoter. You'll find couple of better times in an American foreigners lifestyle in comparison with seeing a european football game by themselves in a family room with the sound level on high.

Almost all of America is clueless with regards to soccer, yet these people do not expect to be a part of it. These people recognize the World Cup is a tremendous sporting event similar to the Olympic games, but these people don't recognize why. People publish on Babble simply because posting in the Babble community and examining opinions is a lot like sticking very little puzzle pieces on to a wall. One submittle = one part of the puzzle. Any person who writes on the World Cup topic had a diverse perspective compared to the other and the allure of this is the sum of all the pieces generates a whole. A fulfilled puzzle results to a improved and in depth understanding . Between the American foreigner, the female follower, and the patriotic male, we may have a World Cup soccer fan base. The online dating universe understands european football and all the things that is the FIFA World Cup 2010.

Specified to online dating, the most useful aspect regarding the Babble was basically the moment one user proposed everybody who was a soccer fan meet up at a local european football event. Just how good would that be? To put together a group of clueless single men and women meet and join over a gathering that collectively they can fully grasp and experience to the fullest. By themselves, these people will most certainly be confused. With each other, they learn and take pleasure in. This viral action is on-line dating magic! This is exactly how you locate your perfect match by means of the FIFA World Cup, and precisely why these people uploaded their views on an online dating internet site.

What an impressive 1st date concept Go check out a soccer match at your community pub!
What an incredible subject matter of chat The World Cup.
What an incredible singles group adventure Mingle at a area soccer game, or start up a group for single men and women in your local area.

Lionel Messi is the greatest pound-for-pound soccer player on the planet – maybe in recent history. Lionel's game is founded on its unpredictability and wonderful handle of the ball, which always generally seems to do whatever he asks from it. At 5-foot-7, he might be short, but he's an excellent header. In reality, he's So excellent, Maradona, among the best ever soccer players, has called Lionel his successor as Argentina's soccer savior (regrettably, almost every other player who's obtained this label from Maradona before did not cover it).

2010 FIFA World Cup Teams - Uruguay

Uruguay will be playing in its 11th FIFA World Cup in 2010 in South Africa. Uruguay hosted and won the first FIFA World Cup tournament in 1930. Uruguay also won the 1950 FIFA World Cup in Brazil (beating the hosts by 2 goals to 1 in the final). Uruguay also played in the 1997 FIFA Confederations Cup tournament in Saudi Arabia and finished in 4th place. Uruguay is currently ranked at number 19 on the FIFA rankings. Uruguay have played in 40 Copa America tournaments. They competed in the competition for the first time in 1916 and have won the Copa America trophy 14 teams over the years.

The Uruguay national football team has 3 nicknames, "Charrúas", "La Celeste Olímpica" (The Olympic Sky Blue) and La Celeste (The Sky Blue). The current head coach of the Uruguay national football team is Oscar Tabárez. This former player has been managing football teams in Europe and South America since 1980. He took up the Uruguay coaching position in 2006 after a spell of 4 years at Argentinian football club Boca Juniors. Rodolfo Rodríguez is the most capped Uruguayan footballer in history. He played for Uruguay in 79 matches between 1976 and 1986. He does not have a single goal behind his name because he played in the goalkeeper position. Héctor Scarone is the highest scoring Uruguayan footballer in history. He scored 31 goals for his country in 52 matches between 1917 and 1932. He was also the manager for Real Madrid (in Spain) between 1951 and 1952.

Uruguay achieved its biggest win in footballing history in 1927 when the team beat fellow South Americans Bolivia by 9 goals to 0. The country suffered its biggest loss in footballing history in 1902, losing by 6 goals to 0 against Argentina. Uruguay will be one of the teams to watch in the 2010 FIFA World Cup in my opinion. They should not be underestimated. They should make it into the last 16 stage of the competition. Uruguay will play in the following 3 group matches in 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa:

11 June 2010 - Uruguay vs France @ Cape Town Stadium - Kickoff at 20:30
16 June 2010 - Uruguay vs South Africa @ Loftus Versfeld Stadium, Pretoria - Kickoff at 20:30
22 June 2010 - Uruguay vs Mexico @ Royal Bafokeng Stadium, Rustenburg - Kickoff at 16:00

The Dubai World Cup

The Emirates Racing Authority was founded in 1990 and on the first running of the Dubai World Cup in 1996 an amazing new track, created on the plans of the Maktoum family was unveiled at Nad Al Sheba. The dream was to build a state-of-the-art racecourse in Dubai which would attract the world's best racehorses, and this dream most definitely came to pass.

The Dubai World Cup is run every March in Dubai, and is a racing challenge, run over ten furlongs, and has the biggest prizes to match. The race is open to Northern Hemisphere bred four-year-olds and older and Southern Hemisphere bred three-year-olds and older, and participants have come from twelve different countries. Goldolphin, founded by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, have had five winners of the Dubai World Cup since 1996, have been crowned Champion British Owner on seven occasions, have a 54% ratio of winners to runners, and boast Frankie Dettori as one of their jockeys. This of course all makes perfect sense when you consider the fact it is believed that horse racing became a professional sport in the UK in the 12th century, when the English knights returned from the Crusades with Arab horses. The Arabian Horse, which hails from Middle Eastern deserts, is acknowledged as being the purest and oldest of all horse breeds, and has incredible stamina - being able to carry its rider at speed across miles of open desert with little food or water. Today, almost every breed and type of horse has traces of Arab blood and all English Thoroughbreds that are used in horseracing in the UK today are descended from three Arabian stallions: Byerley Turk, Darley Arabian or Godolphin Arabian, which were imported to Britain in the late 17th and early 18th century.

For more than two decades, horse owners and breeders from the Arab world have worked to establish the Arab presence in international thoroughbred racing, and with the development of the Dubai World Cup have established themselves as one of the world's top racing challenges. In a little over a decade they have created one of the highlights of the international racing calendar. Placement in the race is by invite only, and anyone invited naturally turns up as the top prize is $ 6 million, but the lure is not just in the prize money - the horsemen get generous subsidies for supporting horseracing in the United Arab Emirates. Dubai enjoys a formidable reputation due to its quality, generosity, and sunshine, and has become a mecca for both horse enthusiasts and tourists alike with 50,000 racegoers attending the Dubai World Cup meeting each year.

The Nad Al Sheba racecourse held the Dubai World Cup for the last time in 2009 as their new racetrack Meydan will host the 2010 Dubai World Cup and its associated races next March. The vision of HH Sheik Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum leaves much for other nations to aspire to when it comes to horseracing! As glamorous as it all sounds though, the Grand National will do for me

With less than a year to go for the 2010 FIFA World Cup football fans around the world are restless and can't wait to hear the first whistle blow! After all, it's a four year wait before one gets to see world class football that's pure magic! And the countdown has begun. This World Cup will be the 19th tournament and it's all set to take place in South Africa. So, keep the 11th of June to the 11th of July aside for some adrenalin pumping action!

It will be the first time that the World Cup is being hosted by South Africa. Nine cities across the country are being readied in terms of infrastructure and operations. Thousands of fans and tourists are expected to descend on South Africa to watch their favorite teams take centre stage in their national team uniforms. Overall, an estimated six billion people will watch the matches worldwide.

The CEO of the World Cup Organizing Committee, Dr Danny Jordaan admits that it's been a tough road at times, but he finds inspiration in the men and women who have worked tirelessly to ensure they go from the planning to the playing stage. "When you look at them and you look in their eyes you get a sense they've all decided, 'we won't let you down, we won't let the country down', and that they're going to make this work," says Jordaan. He hopes that when the final whistle has blown, Nelson Mandela and the many other freedom fighters will be smiling in the realization that the World Cup was delivered by both black and white coming together, that all their efforts and sacrifices were not in vain...

This World Cup's mascot is Zakumi, a cute leopard with green hair! He was born on the 16th of June 1994, the year that apartheid ended. The 'Za' in Zakumi is the international abbreviation for South Africa and 'kumi' means ten in many African languages. It also means 'come here' in some southern African languages. The green and yellow colors of the mascot stand for the host nation's flag and playing strip. Zakumi's designer, Andries Odendaal, explains that the animal's green hair was designed to provide camouflage on the football pitch.

With the qualifiers taking place, the heat is already on! There's been a global rush to apply for tickets to the 2010 World Cup. Bets are on as to who'll make it and who'll be left out. Some traditional favorites are already facing a tough challenge to qualify!

Cristiano Ronaldo 2014: Portugal Captain Teams up With Legend Pele in New Fly Emirates Promotional Video for World Cup

Cristiano Ronaldo was officially announced as the newest global ambassador for Emirates Airline on Friday (March 28, 2014). The Ballon d'Or holder joined three-time World Cup winner Pele, who was named as the first global ambassador for the Dubai-based airline since the 2006 competition in Germany. The two football idols worked together to star in the new Emirates promotional video for this forthcoming FIFA World Cup. The commercial takes place in the onboard lounge on an Emirates A380 flight. At the start of the new advert, Cristiano Ronaldo is reading a magazine article and he is delighted when two passengers whisper about how great he is. However, the Portugal captain’s mood darkens as he realizes the man the duo are talking about is actually Pele, who appears next to him. The 73-year-old Brazilian star laughs at Cristiano Ronaldo. But the Real Madrid star has the last laugh when another passenger appears and asks him for a photo, handing his phone to Pele to do the honours. The Brazil legend obliges and CR7 concludes the series of events with a cheeky wink.

2010 FIFA World Cup - South Africa Calling!

South Africa is ready to welcome the world with open arms, modern infrastructure, breathtaking venues and efficient security. More than 630,000 tickets have already been picked up by fans form 188 countries and they can't wait to put on their football jerseys and cheer their favorite teams!

With an expected fan base of 430,000 arriving at South Africa next June, the country is abuzz with activity. Ten world class stadia are being readied for the tournament, of which five are spanking new. Port Elizabeth's Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium, located in an area of immaculate beaches, has been declared opened. The stunning Moses Mabhida in Durban with its towering arch that resembles Wembley Stadium even has a cable car that takes you right to the beach front!

Polkwane, the land of the upside down baobab tree and the cradle of ancient civilisations, is to be ready with its stadium by October. As will Nelspruit, South Africa's very own Garden of Eden. The fifth stadium, Green Point, in the cosmopolitan city of Cape Town is being prepared for a February opening. Green Point is the only stadium in the world with a roof made of glass!

Soccer City, the showpiece venue on the outskirts of Soweto in Johannesburg, has been upgraded with a design that's takes inspiration from African pottery. With so much of renovation gone into it, it can be called a brand new stadium for all purposes! The 2010 FIFA World Cup opening match is scheduled to be played at this 94,000 capacity stadium. The four other venues of Ellis Park, Free State, Loftus Versfeld and Royal Bafokeng have been upgraded to host the Confederations Cup matches this month.

Jozi, as locals affectionately call Johannesburg, is the financial hub of the African continent. It's got energy, culture, excitement, as well as, peace and tranquility with 2328 parks forming a large and much appreciated greenbelt. Joberg is also the birthplace of South Africa's rich football heritage. Professional football began right here in the offices of the old Rand Daily Mail newspaper back in 1958!
It is home to champions Kaizer Chiefs, Orlando Pirates and Jomo Cosmos. When Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates play each other, it is one of the most fiercely contested matches in the world! Johannesburg has also produced famous players like Jomo Sono and Kaizer Motaung, founders of the above clubs. Sono has even had the honor of playing with legends like Pele and Franz Beckenbauer! Ace or Patrick Ntsoelengoe holds pride of place as one of South Africa's greatest football players ever.

Besides setting the stage for a brilliant 2010 World Cup, great hopes ride on the tournament. With so much spent on infrastructure, roads, airports, security, hotels and soccer merchandise, South Africans want the World Cup to showcase the best their country has to offer in a bid to rebrand it, increase its prestige, benefit its people and act as a catalyst for economic growth. As of now, let the vuvuzelas blow as soccer greats arrive proudly wearing their World Cup soccer jerseys for the Confederation Cup, a precursor to the biggest festival of football in the world!

Manaus' Bid to be a Host City of the 2014 World Cup in Brazil

Interview granted to the consulting firm Deloitte for the magazine Mundo Corporativo regarding the preparation of Manaus for the World Cup 2014.

- What is the state of Amazonas doing to prepare itself for the World Cup in 2014? Where are the main efforts concentrated?

Amazonas seeks to prepare itself for the future. The World Cup is an event in this future that we seek. We have a series of actions of improvement of management in this direction, amongst which I will point out:

Implementation of ISO 9000 in agencies of the State Government, at a rate of 10 agencies per year.
Professional conscription of managers for positions which require great reliability; searching for better qualifications and experience.
Variable remuneration of managers, initially in Education (we base the remuneration of directors of school off of the results of the school in the ENEM on the previous year, for example), followed by Public Security and Health.
Establishment of quotas of training for state server, with year to year increments.

These efforts of the management already start to show the first fruits, such as the advancement of the state in the ENEM (it was the third largest improvement of grades of 2006 to 2007), in the area of public security (reduction in the number of homicides of 2006 to 2007), in health (reduction in the number of cases of malaria by more than 40% of 2006 to 2007) and in collections (that have practically folded between 2002 and 2007.) These advances prepare the state for imminent challenges, of which include the World Cup.

This increase in collection, which to a large extent had been due to the good performance of the industrial pole region of Manaus and the combat against the evasion of taxes by the Secretaria da Fazenda (tax collecting agency), has been allowing the State plenty of investment in some priority sectors such as sanitation. Manaus was a city cut by several small rivers, on which thousands lived without infrastructure, amongst filth and disease. The project of sanitation and cleanliness of these rivers, that had already changed this aspect of the city, should be concluded in 2012, opening new ways of transport in the city (with streets along the rivers) and providing better living conditions. Also we have important advancements in Science and Technology, with the state investment in the northern region being larger than the investment of the CNPq. The countryside of Amazonas is the poorest area of the state, but today we have 15 a thousand students in the countryside in superior courses through the State University of Amazonas; this is equivalent to almost 1% of the population where today not even 0.5% have had university instruction.

Finally, today we have the assessments of Deloitte in assisting with the crafting of plans that take care of the enormous amount of requirements of FIFA, joining all the efforts of the state in the direction of showing to FIFA, to the Ministry of the Sports, CBF and Brazil as a whole the merit of Manaus as one of the headquarters. Deloitte has the experience acquired in Germany and South Africa and that is being applied in its fullness in Manaus to show with clarity the qualities that Manaus can offer the Cup.

- What would be the differential of the state in the dispute with others?

The environmental aspect certainly differentiates us. In 2002, we had deforestation of 1.550 km2; in 2007 it was 753 km2, less than half. It is a tax of 0,05% per year, dramatically better than the rest of Brazil and historically better for our state. We did this by a series of governmental actions with an aim to value the uncut forest, which ranges from the establishing of minimum prices for sustainable products (such as rubber, oil of andiroba and copaíba, amongst others) to the payment of the Bolsa Floresta for families in the countryside where there can be no identified deforestation by satellite. The state has a clear strategy of saying “no” to the growth of some economic segments as cattle, soy and sugarcane. We have the conception that strategy requires saying “no” to potential segments to focus on what we want to be: a state of tourism, clean industry and energy, environmental services, use of natural resources with technology and sustainability, and with a strong economy of services.

Moreover, we have in Manaus the economic strength of the state, with the third highest per capita GDP amongst Brazilian capitals, and with low indices of crime. It is a cosmopolitan city, with direct flights to five countries (U.S.A., Panama, Colombia, Venezuela and Ecuador), with reputable festivals (of Jazz, Cinema, Opera and Theater beyond the Boi-Bumba in Parintins) and enormous cultural diversity (from the Japanese, to the people from the state of Ceará of the Rubber Battle, to aboriginal peoples, to the English, Arabs and Jews of the rubber circle, amongst many other peoples.)

- Some specialists affirm that one of the main questions is to plan the after-Cup, that is to say, to make sure that investments made in infrastructure are economically viable - for companies and governments - and used to benefit the population. In the case of Amazonas, what is the best way to carry out this task? How can or must this be done? Do you remember any positive example, in Brazil or internationally?

Some of the investments we will need to execute will have long lasting impacts, such as a possible surface metro system. Other investments are directed to back the event, such as the designing of the Stadium and complex, with public areas for entertainment. The requisites of FIFA make many demands that, if to think properly, we would eventually have to make regardless, then one of the important impacts is speeding up the implementation of improvements and, why not, of the future. Our focus today, 6 years before the Cup, is in the investments that are independent from the Cup, but that are essential for its execution. Today, we are working with the team of Deloitte to identify other investments we can pursue in such a way to meet the requirements of the FIFA as well as improve the living conditions in Amazonas.

FIFA Under 17 World Tournament

The FIFA U-17 World Cup is the world championship of association football for male players under the age of 17 organized by Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA). it was founded as the FIFA U-16 World Championship in 1985 and later changed to the FIFA U-17 World Championship and known by its current name since 2007.

This Championship was inaugurated in 1985 and tournament have been played every two years since then. It began as a competition for players under the age of 16 with the age limit raised to 17 from the 1991 edition onwards. Brazil and Nigeria are the most successful nations in the tournament's history, with three wins each. Ghana has won the tournament twice.

Each tournament consists of a group phase, where four teams play against one another and standings in the group table decide which teams advance, followed by a knockout phase of successive matches where the winning team advances through the competition and the losing team is eliminated. This continues until two teams remain to contest the final, which decides the tournament winner. The losing semi-finalists also contest a match to decide third place.

From 1985 to 2005 there were 16 teams in the competition, divided into four groups of four teams each in the group phase. Each team played the others in its group and the group winner and runner up qualified for the knockout phase. From 2007 the tournament was expanded to 24 teams, divided into six groups of four teams each. The top 2 places in each group plus the four best third-placed teams advanced to the knockout phase.

Competition matches are played in two 45 minute halves (ie 90 minutes in total). In the knockout phase, if the scores are level at the end of 90 minutes an additional 30 minutes of extra time is played. If the scores are still level at the end of extra time, a penalty shoot-out is used to decide the match winner.

Nigeria and Brasil are the teo most succesful teams in the tournament's history with wins in 1985, 1993, 2007 and 1997, 1999, 2003 respectively. Ghana won the tournament twice; once in 1991 and the other in 1995

A corresponding tournament for female players, the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup, began in 2008, with Korea DPR winning the inaugural tournament.

Winner Of The 2014 World Cup

People all around the world have just been through a huge thrill of 2010 World Cup in South African. The final match was between two nations who had never won the world cup before. There were many surprises and disappointments such as the Ghanian team and the French team respectively. And about the next world cup in Brazil. Who will win the game?

It's easy to say that Brazil with their home advantage and the project and their stars will easily when this. Apart from them, there is Argentina with Maradona and their stars, Spain and others like France with some good potential. But a team that people do not look at like an European powerhouse may be the center of attraction in 4 years is Belgium. The team that finished second in the 1980 Euro possessing players like Enzo Schifo, the magician, Eric Gerets and Jean Marie Pfaff. The were a team that was reckoned in the 80s. Ever since they have slipped down till 2002 when a team led by Marc Wilmots almost upsetted the Brazilians in the round of 16, if not of very debatable referring where they were refused two goals.

After that unfortunate event Belgium has been looked at like a team like Wales that knows football but is not feared of that much. However, this is soon to end with the advent of serious talented players, amongst the most talented youngsters in the world if not the most talented. Eden Hazard, Moussa Dembele, Lukaku, Defour, Witsel, Fellaini, Kompany, Carcela Gonzalez or even Thomas Vermalen. Never has a team been filled with such talented players aged between 18 to 24 like Belgium.

Taking each player individually, let's start with Hazard. Hazard the 19 year old who plays for Lille, with his name meaning danger in English, really is serious danger. The lad who Zidane absolutely wants at Real Madrid is destined to be one our next ballon d'or. He is incredible at what he does with the ball. At just 19, he is the pillar of the LOSC and has won two successive young player of the year titles. He played 52 games last season scored 10 goals and gave 9 assists. He has got all teams on the leach for him as he will certainly be the next Messi. A great thing about him, his personality. A very down to earth player, who has never taken all the praise to his head. He has it in his mind that he has to keep on working and does not want to leave Lille too early.

Lukaku, is a huge best. At just 16 he was already terrorizing defenders in Belgium and Europe. He is a 1m 92 cm giant and plays for Anderlecht. He scored 19 goals in 45 games last season and is Chelsea's new craving for the future.

Defour is the Steven Gerrard of Standard Liege. They guy who can do everything. He was captain of the team since he was 19 and is still 21. He has also led the team to the past year champions league. He plays alongside with Wistel.

Moussa Dembele, the AZ striker is one of the top rated strikers in the dutch league. At 22, he has the ability to dribble, score, serve. He is the ultimate package. He like his Belgian friends is highly demanded on the transfer market.

Players like Kompany who plays at Manchester City, Vermalen and Fellaini who are becoming household names in the premier league but at the age of 25 or 26 only are other players who will easily gel with the emerging talents, to form on of the best team Europe will see in the years to come.

Anyway, before the 2014 world cup Belgium will have to show its worth in the Euro 2012 where the will have to qualify from a group including Germany, Turkey and Austria. In the meantime, I will continue searching on the internet for a website that will take my bet for Belgium in 2014.
