Cristiano Ronaldo was officially announced as the newest global ambassador for Emirates Airline on Friday (March 28, 2014). The Ballon d'Or holder joined three-time World Cup winner Pele, who was named as the first global ambassador for the Dubai-based airline since the 2006 competition in Germany. The two football idols worked together to star in the new Emirates promotional video for this forthcoming FIFA World Cup. The commercial takes place in the onboard lounge on an Emirates A380 flight. At the start of the new advert, Cristiano Ronaldo is reading a magazine article and he is delighted when two passengers whisper about how great he is. However, the Portugal captain’s mood darkens as he realizes the man the duo are talking about is actually Pele, who appears next to him. The 73-year-old Brazilian star laughs at Cristiano Ronaldo. But the Real Madrid star has the last laugh when another passenger appears and asks him for a photo, handing his phone to Pele to do the honours. The Brazil legend obliges and CR7 concludes the series of events with a cheeky wink.
